Amendment of Intepretation Ordinance, 1911.

The amendments suggested by the Secretary of State in the annexed

despatch have been introduced into the General Revision Ordinance. I

have also introduced a few others which have been found to be neces-

-sary.

In the definition of "Harbour" I have substituted "Kowloon City

Pier for *Kowloon Pier*.

In the definition of "Court" the following has been added which

is necessary in view of the way in which some sections conferring jurie

-diction on the Courts are drafted:-

*and in the absence of any words indicating a contrary in-

-tention the jurisdiction referred to in any enactment

shall be exercised by the Supreme Court".

I have also deleted sub-section (2) of s. 48, as sɛreed to in M.P.

5145/11 returned herewith.

I annex a special memorandum dealing with s. 15 of the Ordinance referred to in paragraph 5 of the Secretary of State's despatch.
